MRST World Cup Week

World-Cup-WeekI am a little behind on my blog, but I want to write about what a big couple of weeks MRST had this October.

The team and especially the athletes were very lucky to be treated to a night of World Cup Video review by US Ski Team Men’s World Cup Coach Greg Needell. There is only one other team in the World that gets that kind of treatment, and that is the US Ski Team. The athletes of MRST are very lucky to get these opportunities. Thanks Greg for a great presentation, and supporting the team!

A week later Arlberg Sport’s brought in world famous ski technician Willy Wiltz for the best tuning clinic I have ever seen. Willy used to tune for Bode Miller, and Darron Rahlves. Now he is tuning for the Canadian Skier X Team, and my. Willy really knows how to get a ski going fast. Again this was a huge opportunity for our athletes, and I was glad to see such a good turn out. Special thanks go out to Scott Paton of Arlberg Sports for setting this up and to Willy for putting on such a good clinic!

Mission Ridge Work Party

Mission-Ridge-Work-PartyThe work party went great! We had 20 volunteers, the ASG, FIS, and J3 Athletes and coaches all provided workers as well as the BOD, parents, and Mission Ridge management. With so many people able to attend we made quick work of our projects and were off the hill by 1:00 PM.

Thanks to Jeff Sanborn, Bruce Bendickson, Mark Millette, and the crew at Sellend Construction we now have on hill gate storage at 4 key spots on the hill. We also now have a salt shack at the top of chair 3.

On Thursday Jeff, Charlie Rubin, and Mark Millette worked on fixing the timing wire that was damaged in a rock slide.

On Friday Jeff, and Ton O’Conell toughed it out in the rain to put a porch on the timing center.

On Saturday a large group of volunteers met to assemble the new gate storage units, clean out the timing center, build stairs the the TC, remove shelving from the team room, and assemble the salt shack.

Thanks everyone for all your help!!

Great Workout

Great-WorkoutIt was awesome to see quite a few MRST athletes working out at the WRAC today. I was really happy to see how far all of you have come and how much stronger you are getting. It was a great first day of dryland. The work that you are doing now will make you faster during the season.

Golf Tournament

Ryan-Shorter-GroupThe Corey McDougall Memorial Golf Tournament is a little over a month away on 09/21/2007. Many volunteers have been working hard to insure this is another successful event. We need your help in getting teams to sign up to play in the Tournament. Here is the registration form. Please print it off and give it to people that you think want to have a great time, while supporting the team or e-mail them the link.

Athletes please remember that your tuition covers less than half of the cost of operating the team. Your help with the golf tournament is imperative in a successful season.
